A NEW GENERATION OF F. M. G.

The ARES FMG is the orignal folding submachine gun designed by Eugene Stoner while he was an owner of ARES Incorporated. Stoner designed the gun for concealment and covert use, describing it as a “businessman’s personal defense weapon”. Allegedly, Stoner had the idea of a defense weapon for VIPs and CEOs following the numbers of kidnappings of many of such persons in South America during the early 1980s. While the design was finalized, and a few functional copies produced, the FMG never did enter full production.
The Magpul FMG-9 [shown above] is a prototype for a new generation of folding submachine guns, designed by Magpul Industries in 2008. Like other folding machine guns, it would be used for concealed carry and can be disguised as anything from a small package to an extra laptop battery. It is still a prototype and may or may not be made in large numbers for law enforcement agencies. The prototype uses glock pistol firing mechanisms, specifically the 9mm Glock 17 pistol.

Hob (Gabriel Damon) carries a UC-M21 as his weapon-of-choice throughout the film. This gun was designed by Dave Boatman and based on an earlier version conceived by Eugene Stoner, the Ares FMG. Stoner developed it in the early 1980s as a PDW for high-ranking politicians and wealthy businessmen in kidnapping prone nations. The blue exterior gives the gun the appearance of a plastic lunchbox, in order to fool unsuspecting cops who don’t realize that Hob is a young drug lord.
